How does it work?
The solution used in sunless tanning contains DHA. DHA is an acronym for Dihydroxyacetone. DHA is an ingredient derived from sugar cane, which reacts with the amino acids in your skin to create the darkening reaction or tan.
The power of 3
Three different types of bronzers are used. The one that is visible immediately is a cosmetic bronzer which gives the "just off the beach" look, but will wash away. (For best results, it should stay on the skin for at least 8-hours.) The DHA bronzer initially has no visible effect but begins to react with the skin in 2-4 hours and eventually replaces the cosmetic bronzer as it washes off with bathing. The third ingredient "Erythulose" is a third type of slow-reacting bronzer, similar to DHA, which enhances the color and extends the life of your tan.
(The day before application) You should exfoliate before each airbrush session. Removing loose, dead, dry skin cells—which prevent even application of color and flake off quickly—will improve and extend color results. It is recommended that you shave the day before your session, if necessary. Skin should be clean and dry. Wear dark, loose fitting clothing, and remove jewelry. Tight clothes can rub off or smear the bronzers. DO NOT USE bar soap—soap residue can interfere with airbrush tanning results. DO NOT APPLY lotion, deodorant, or perfume prior to airbrush tanning. IT IS BEST NOT TO apply make-up; it will have to be removed prior to your session.
After your session you need to:
AVOID WATER! Wait at least 4-hours before showering or bathing. (Preferably 6 to 8-hours.) Bathe with plain water only for the first 16-hours after your session to avoid fading and stripping of instant color. After bathing, gently "pat dry" skin. Avoid chemically treated swimming pools and spas for at least 24-hours after your airbrush tanning session to prevent color from fading prematurely. AVOID SWEATING! Avoid activities that may cause you to sweat excessively and possibly cause streaking of the cosmetic bronzer.
What should I wear?
This is a professional service, provided in a private setting. Full body sprays can be done in a bathing suit or undergarments. We encourage you to wear whatever you feel most comfortable in.
How long does it last?
Your natural looking tan should last at least 4-5 days depending on the individual. As your skin exfoliates, your tan will fade.
Maintenance of Airbrush Tanning Color:
Healthy, moist skin will retain the results of your airbrush tanning session longer. Use hydrating body washes, and moisturize daily. Results will vary by individual.
